Please note: If you enroll in a course, you will remain
enrolled until you officially drop the course on webadvisor
by filing the officialwithdrawal notice, or by dropping the
course by telephone. This applies even if you do not ever
attend a class meeting, unless your instructor chooses to
drop you from the course. It is not the instructor’s responsibility
to drop you from a course if you do not attend. If you do not drop
the course and do not attend, you will most likely receive an “F” in
the course. The grading and recording of grades on withdrawal from
a course are governed by the following conditions:
1. A withdrawal reported during the first four weeks of instruction
in a regular term course, or during the first 30 percent
of instruction in summer intersession or short-term
courses, will not appear on your official academic record.
2. A withdrawal reported between the end of the fourth
(4th) week and the end of the fourteenth (14th) week of
instruction in a regular term course, will be recorded on
your official academic record as a “W” grade. For summer
intersession and short-term courses, a withdrawal reported
between the completion of 30 percent and 75 percent of instruction
will be recorded on your official academic record
as a “W” grade.
3. If you do not withdraw from a course by the end of the
fourteenth week of instruction in regular term courses, or
by the completion of 75 percent of instruction in summer
intersession and short-term courses, you must receive an
authorized grade other than a “W.”
4. Exceptions to the above conditions may be made under
extenuating circumstances.
IP — In Progress
This temporary grade is used only when a course is scheduled
to extend past the end of the academic term for which grades
are being reported and the assignment of an evaluative grade
must await the completion of the course. On completion of the
course, the appropriate evaluative grade for the course will be
assigned and entered on your official academic record for the
term in which the course was completed. The “IP” grade is not
used in calculating units attempted or grade point average; it is
used for calculating enrolled units for progress probation.
RD — Report Delayed
This temporary grade is used when, for reasons beyond your control,
there is a delay in reporting your evaluative grade. It may be assigned
only by the Director of Admissions & Records, and is replaced as
soon as possible by the permanent grade assigned. The “RD” grade is
not used in calculating units attempted or grade point average; it is
used for calculating enrolled units for progress probation.
