CCC Foundation Scholarships

There are a variety of scholarships available to CCC students with awards ranging from $250 to $8000+. Each scholarship is different with its own focus. Some awards are based on earning high grades, demonstrating leadership or community service, pursuing a specific major or career path, or having financial need.

3 Steps to a Scholarship
  1. Review
    Look through the scholarships listed below and decide which scholarships you want to apply for.
  2. Prepare
    Don't wait!
    Get reference letters, write your personnel statement, complete the application now.
  3. Turn in
    Don't be late!
    Turn in completed applications on time. All of the scholarships below are due Monday February 3rd 2014 by 12pm.

General Scholarships

For students intending to continue their studies at CCC. To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least 12 units with a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled full-time (12 units) for the spring 2014 term or 6 units for DSPS students. To redeem this awards winners must enroll at CCC for the fall 2014 term and enroll in at least half-time (6 units)

Student must have completed at least 12 units with a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in at least 9 units for the Spring 2014 term, enrolled in BioSci 141, completed at least 4.0 units in BioSci 140 with a grade of B or higher, and planning to transfer to a four-year college or university.

Continuing ESL Students at Contra Costa College. Student must have completed at least 24 units by the Spring 2014 term, have at least a 3.25 GPA, and be enrolled in level 3 or higher ESL courses.

For transferring EOPS students at CCC. Student must have completed at least 18 units, be enrolled in at least 9 units for the Spring 2014 term, have at least a 3.0 GPA, participated in EOPS a minimum of two consecutive semesters, and be in good standing with EOPS.

Student must have completed at least 12 units with a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled in at least 9 units for the Spring 2014 term or 6 units for DSPAS students, have strong performance in foreign language courses and participation in extracurricular activities involving use of foreign language.

The La Raza Program offer one $750 scholarships to a student who has taken at least three La Raza Studies and who plans to pursuit an Ethnic Studies degree.

For an outstanding mathematics student at CCC; enrolled full-time at CCC for the Spring 2014 term or MCHS (senior status), have a minimum 3.0 GPA in CCC mathematics coursework, and completed Math 191. Student must also plan to transfer to a four-year college in 2014; intend to major in mathematics, mathematics education, or a mathematics-related major, and demonstrate community service and involvement via tutoring, club memberships, and activities.

For a student majoring in Physical Education/Kinesiology. To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must be currently enrolled at CCC for the Spring 2014 term, be a declared Physical Education/Kinesiology degree candidate, must have completed 50% or more of the PE degree requirements, and must have an overall 2.5 GPA or better.

Student must currently enrolled in 12 units or more at CCC; student must have completed at least 12 units in the Contra Costa Community College District; student must have completed at least one course in Political Science in the 4CD with at least a "B" grade; student must be a major in Political Science at CCC.

CCC Foundation Scholarships

Amount: $500.00
For students intending to continue their studies at CCC. To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least 12 units with a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled full-time (12 units) for the spring 2014 term or 6 units for DSPS students. To redeem this awards winners must enroll at CCC for the fall 2014 term and enroll in at least half-time (6 units) (continuing students).

AGS Scholarship is awarded through the local chapter of the statewide honor society for community college students and offers two scholarships 1) to the AGS student who will transfer to a four-year institution in the Fall and 2) to an AGS student who will continue their studies at CCC. The recipients are anonymously selected by peer committee of AGS members. (continuing, transferring students).

Is awarded to student pursuing associates degrees in Career Technical Education (CTE) at CCC. Students must have completed 6 units in declared CTE major prior to Fall 2014 \ initial scholarship payment, have at least a 2.0 GPA and 2.5 GPA in their CTE major, be enrolled full-time during the award period, and be resident of West Contra Costa County.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled in at least 9 units for the Spring 2013 semester at CCC (6 units for DSPS students), demonstrate financial need, possess a GPA of 2.0 or better, and submit all information outlined in this application.

To be eligible students must be enrolled in at least 9 units for the current semester at CCC (6 units for DSPS students), demonstrate financial need, and possess a GPA of 3.0 or better and submit all information outlined in this application.

Is available to students planning to transfer to a four-year college with junior standing for the Fall 2013 term. To be eligible a student must complete a major in African American Studies or at least six courses in African American Studies, have a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.0, and demonstrate a strong sense of college and/or community involvement.

Is awarded in memory of a cherished West Contra Costa County public servant and great friend of CCC. It goes to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in liberal arts discipline who has a record of community service and an interest in future public service. (transferring students)

Was endowed by his parents in memory of this former CCC student and athlete. It goes to a student with at a least a 3.0 GPA who exemplifies leadership skills and will continue their education at CCC in the Fall. Preference given to students involved in athletic programs or El Cerrito High School graduates. (continuing, vocational students)

Is awarded to a Liberal Arts student who is transferring to a four-year institution, has a 2.5 GPA or better, and has demonstrated personal leadership and financial need. The award was created by the parents of C.J. in memory of their son who was an avid drama student and graduated from Contra Costa College in 1953. A unique criterion for its time was that the recipient be a non-smoker (transferring students).

This scholarship is available to graduating students planning to transfer to a CSU campus for the Fall 2014 and no later than the Spring 2015 term. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time for the Spring 2013 term at CCC, possess at least a 3.0 GPA at the community college, and enroll as a full-time student at the SCU. Scholarships awards will be forfeited if the student transfers to a non-CSU institution. (transferring students).

Is awarded to female student pursuing a degree or career in business or entrepreneurialism. Recipients must be enrolled in at least 9 units (6 units for DSPS) and have completed at least 12 units with a 2.5 GPA. (continuing, transferring students).

Is offered by the ESL faculty/staff members to deserving student(s) currently enrolled in ESL courses at CCC. To be eligible a student must be currently enrolled in at least 8 units, have a cumulative gpa of 3.0 or higher, currently enrolled in at least one level three ESL course, and have completed 12 or more ESL units.

Is awarded to students pursuing automotive collision courses at CCC. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA (3.0 GPA preferred) and demonstrate a record of volunteer and community service. (continuing students)

This scholarship encourages and rewards outstanding students in Biological sciences in memory of a long-term instructor in that department. Recipients have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and have completed at least 2 bio-sci lab courses. (continuing students)

Is awarded to a student majoring in business administration, math, science or engineering. Student must have at least a 3.0 gpa, demonstrate a record of volunteer and community service, and plan to transfer to Tuskegee University or another historically black college/university. This scholarship goes to a student who enrolled at CCC several years after graduating high school, has at least a 3.0 GPA, contributes to the betterment of their community, and plan to pursue careers in business. The Richard Granzella family established the endowment that pays this scholarship at the Foundation’s first Swinging for Scholarships golf tournament. (continuing, transferring students)

Is available to a student transferring to a four-year college with a goal of obtaining a degree in Counseling, Social Work or Veterinary Medicine. (tranferring students)

Is awarded by the Richmond-El Cerrito Branch of the American Association of University Women to a 3.5 or better GPA female student from the Center for Science Excellence who intends to transfer to a four-year institution the fall term. (transferring student)

Is available to students that are diligently pursuing their goals while helping fellow student to do the same. Applicants must have completed at least 12 units with at least a 3.0 GPA (8 units /2.8 GPA for DSPS/employed student), be enrolled full-time for the Spring 2014 term (8 units for DSPS/employed students) and plan to be a continuing student for the Fall 2015 term. This scholarship was established in the memory of Mary Vivian Gardner, mother of long-time automotive student and CCC Scholarship recipient James Gardner. (continuing student)

Is available to continuing EOPS/CARE students at Contra Costa College. Student must have completed at least 18 units, be enrolled in at least 9 units for the Spring 2014 term, have at least a 2.5 GPA, have participated in EOPS/CARE a minimum of two consecutive terms, and be in good standing with EOPS/CARE.

Is available to continuing students registered with the CCC DSPS Office. Established by former DSPS professor, Peggy Fleming, this scholarship is offered to continuing DPS students with plans to remediate their skills, earn a certificate of completion, an associate degree, or transfer to a four-year college. Student applying must possess a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Is available to students who have enrolled in the Puente Project at Contra Costa College, demonstrate community involvement, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The Puente Protect strives to increase the number of educationally underserved students who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, earn college degrees, and return to the community as leaders and mentors.
